Welcome to ask.fedora. That's an excellent question. In Linux, as in Windows, you can use the TAB key to cycle through the options and buttons, then hit Enter when you're on the right one. If the window you're working on has several tabs, such as most of the control panels do, once the first tab is highlighted, you can use the right and left arrow keys to get to the one you need, then use the up and down arrows to get to whatever check boxes you want to select. I mention this because it will even work if your mouse has stopped responding, allowing you to finish what you were doing and reboot.
