Hi,

I'm a beginner on Linux.

Yesterday, I change the OS system from Windows 8 to Linux Fedora 25 on my laptop, because of errors on hard disk.

So, I change too the hard disk, from 1 To to 2 To.

Install of Fedora 25 was a success from graphical install. It is a temporay install, because, I want to organize differently my installation.

The automatic install of Fedora 25 has made three partitions on the hard disk :

[root@fed25 /]# fdisk -l
Disque /dev/sda : 1,8 TiB, 2000398934016 octets, 3907029168 secteurs
Unités : secteur de 1 × 512 = 512 octets
Taille de secteur (logique / physique) : 512 octets / 4096 octets
taille d'E/S (minimale / optimale) : 4096 octets / 4096 octets
Type d'étiquette de disque : gpt
Identifiant de disque : 90FCFB9F-293E-422F-931D-A4C2D97ACD0A

Périphérique Début Fin Secteurs Taille Type
/dev/sda1 2048 411647 409600 200M Système EFI
/dev/sda2 411648 2508799 2097152 1G Système de fichiers Linux
/dev/sda3 2508800 3907028991 3904520192 1,8T LVM Linux

Disque /dev/mapper/fedora-root : 15 GiB, 16106127360 octets, 31457280 secteurs
Unités : secteur de 1 × 512 = 512 octets
Taille de secteur (logique / physique) : 512 octets / 4096 octets
taille d'E/S (minimale / optimale) : 4096 octets / 4096 octets

Disque /dev/mapper/fedora-swap : 5,4 GiB, 5821693952 octets, 11370496 secteurs
Unités : secteur de 1 × 512 = 512 octets
Taille de secteur (logique / physique) : 512 octets / 4096 octets
taille d'E/S (minimale / optimale) : 4096 octets / 4096 octets

I understand, there are 3 partitions on my hard disk :

Périphérique Début Fin Secteurs Taille Type
/dev/sda1 2048 411647 409600 200M Système EFI
/dev/sda2 411648 2508799 2097152 1G Système de fichiers Linux
/dev/sda3 2508800 3907028991 3904520192 1,8T LVM Linux

When I see all partitions mounted, i can see /dev/sda3 is not still mounted :

[root@fed25 /]# mount -l
sysfs on /sys type sysfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime, seclabel)
proc on /proc type proc (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime)
devtmpfs on /dev type devtmpfs (rw,nosuid,seclabel,size=2761560k,nr_inodes=690390,mode=755)
securityfs on /sys/kernel/security type securityfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime)
tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, seclabel)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw,nosuid,noexec,relatime,seclabel,gid=5,mode=620,ptmxmode=000)
tmpfs on /run type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,seclabel,mode=755)
tmpfs on /sys/fs/cgroup type tmpfs (ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,seclabel,mode=755)
cgroup on /sys/fs/cgroup/systemd type cgroup (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,xattr,release_agent=/usr/lib/systemd/systemd-cgroups-agent,name=systemd)
pstore on /sys/fs/pstore type pstore (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime, seclabel)
efivarfs on /sys/firmware/efi/efivars type efivarfs (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime)
cgroup on /sys/fs/cgroup/freezer type cgroup (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime, freezer)
cgroup on /sys/fs/cgroup/pids type cgroup (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime, pids)
cgroup on /sys/fs/cgroup/cpu,cpuacct type cgroup (rw,nosuid, nodev, noexec, relatime, cpu, cpuacct)
cgroup on /sys/fs/cgroup/memory type cgroup (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime ...

Fedora uses LVM) as default "partitioning" method. The /dev/sda3 is LVM Physical Volume and it cannot be mounted. You have three (at least default installation create three) LVM Logical Volumes used for / (you can see /dev/mapper/fedora-root mounted at /), /home (I don't see it in /proc/mounts you provided) and swap (/dev/mapper/fedora-swap visible in fdisk -l output). If you want to see list of logical volumes, you need to use LVM commands -- lvs for logical volumes, pvs for physical volumes (you have just one PV -- /dev/sda3 and vgs for volume group (you have just one VG named fedora).

Thank's your answer,

As you see in the result of df command, /dev/sda3 doesn't appear in the list :

[root@fed25 /]# df -kPh

Sys. de fichiers Taille Utilisé Dispo Uti% Monté sur devtmpfs 2,7G 0 2,7G 0% /dev tmpfs 2,7G 4,0K 2,7G 1% /dev/shm tmpfs 2,7G 1,6M 2,7G 1% /run tmpfs 2,7G 0 2,7G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup /dev/mapper/fedora-root 15G 6,9G 8,1G 47% / tmpfs 2,7G 172K 2,7G 1% /tmp /dev/sda2 976M 101M 808M 12% /boot /dev/sda1 200M 9,4M 191M 5% /boot/efi tmpfs 543M 40K 543M 1% /run/user/1000 /dev/sr0 484M 484M 0 100% /run/media/mland/Fedora-S-dvd-x86_64-25 tmpfs 543M 36K 543M 1% /run/user/0 tmpfs 543M 4,0K 543M 1% /run/user/996

If we can't mount /dev/sda3 partition, there is a space of 1,8T unusable, so there is a problem.

Are, my 1,8T space available ?

Can you explain me what to do ?

Thank's in advance.

You hard drive is divided in 3 partitions, sda1, sda2 and sda3, sda1 is EFI partition used by your bios to boot, sda2 is linux boot partition, sda3 is the partition used by Fedora to generate the lvm partition schema, since there you have two partition /dev/mapper/lvroot which is your root using 15G and /dev/mapper/swap using 5 G, now you are not using part of you 1.8T, you need to use lvm tools to add that space to your lvroot. Hope this help.
