playing video lags

hello, i have nvidia GeForce GTX 650 as GPU, i freshly installed fedora 25 2 days ago i have vlc & video installed, i used both of them to play a video the video it self lags but the audio runes smooth. i have no problem playing youtube inside firefox,

for decent performance you can not use nouveau as the video driver, they even admit on the website for nouveau that it is slower than the nvida drivers. There are posts in the forums here, about using negativo, or non-free rpm, or using proprietary. I have had great success with proprietary, but your free to choose what you want. As far as keyboard, the system control center should allow you to change the layout.

Negativo17 Nvidia drivers, works fine for me...

@tomz444, www.nvidia.com and specify either linux 32 or linux 64 for the operating system, dependent on what you have installed. I think most people run linux x86_64 so they get linux 64 drivers. if you have kernel 4.10.* you will also need to find the forum posts with the patch file, and follow those steps. Good Luck.

you have to blacklist nouveau in the kernel first , then go and install nvidia drivers while using init 3 (which means none graphical mode) ; fortunately ,there is some good tutorials out there on how to do it
