rcp and sub-directories on FC 17

Hi,

I use Fedora Core 17 (64b). For exemple the machine with FC 17 names fc17a. When I use the command for example "rcp -r fc17a:/etc/sysconfig ." locally or from an other FC machine (FC17 or FC14) from the user root in /root, all the files and the directories are copied but the first letter of all the directories is missing (for example the directory "networking" become "etworking"). If this remote copy was made from an other machine with an other release (FC16 - FC14), the problem is not there.

Before I had an other problem. The command don't work and the connection was lost. To solve this, I comment the line "-session optional pam_systemd.so" in the file /etc/pam.d/password-auth-ac.

Have you a solution? I know that better to work with scp.

Thank

I have no idea what's going on with the weird filenames, but have the general suggestion to use rsync for recursive remote copies. (It defaults to tunneling over ssh.)

Does commenting out the systemd session pam line solve the problem? That's probably a bug, and worth reporting in Bugzilla.

Ah, got it. So now it works but does the weird thing.

So why not use rsync for that too?

With rsync over ssh and a passphraseless key you also don't need to give a password. But I understand the desire for minimal changes to the environment.
