Hello,

I am not much of a Linux/Unix guy (kind of learning as I go) and am trying to stand up a test box of Rancid for network config backups. I am running Fedora 17 and am trying to follow the instructions on the Rancid website (http://www.shrubbery.net/rancid/RhysEvansoverview0.3.pdf). When I try to run the “useradd -g netadm -c "Networking Backups" -d /usr/local/rancid rancid” command, I keep getting the following error: useradd: cannot create directory /usr/local/rancid. The troubleshooting options have not been much help. Any direction would be helpful.

Thanks!

@timbertino, your problem is about a SELINUX context, try to follow SELINUX troubleshooting that pop-up give you, one solution but not elegant and not recommendable is disabling SELINUX, an the good one is:
