I received a link from library for ebook with DRM and I downloaded it to my computer. I could read this book through Firefox browser via a https link and since the book was 500 pages I downloaded it to my computer for reading later on, but when I click on link I am unable to view the file or convert it from *.acsm to pdf? Is there any application in Fedora to read the *.acsm file offline? Please guide!

I thought this would be a quick question to answer. I've never used Wine (except out of curiosity) and don't see it as an acceptable answer to a Linux problem but that's what most people out there are recommending.

Calibre dnf install calibre seems to have a plugin of questionable legality that removes the Adobe DRM completely.

The DRM in .acsm files is a type of private encryption so by design it is very hard (or impossible) for open-source, non-commercial Linux applications to run it.

I have Windows 10 installed in a virtual machine for situations like this, it starts in seconds when run from a saved state and runs 100% of Windows software as intended unlike Wine. (I understand that is a rubbish answer.) But you may have to do that if your uncomfortable with the legal murkiness (and possibly annoying process) of removing DRM.

Weii I could open the .acsm file in firefox browser and download it for offline viewing, but I do not know as to where it is downloaded to my Fedora 26 laptop. Does any one knows the folder where the files get downloaded for offline viewing through Firefox downloader go? Your answer will enlighten me. I have just bookmarked the link and reading the file from that link offline. Thanks for your reply.
