Problem with Fedora 26 (Graphical) Lag

First some system specs.

CPU: Intel i7-4790K

Motherboard: Intel DZ87KLT-75K

Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 980ti

Monitor: Dell U3011

Fedora 26 Workstation is slow to the point of unusable on my computer. Also receive an error on boot "BOOT_IMAGE=/image/pxeboot/vmlinuz crashed". Unsure if the two issues are related.

I was previously using Fedora 25 Workstation fine with no issues. I upgraded to Fedora 26 Workstation through GNOME and the computer became so laggy it was unusable. So I tried a clean install of Fedora 26 Workstation from the liveusb. The liveusb was also incredibly laggy and I had to install to disk using the tab-key as the mouse cursor was unusable. I thought it might be fixed if I installed to a disk, but once I booted into the disk installation, I have the same issue. Thought it might be GNOME and I tried a different spin, but I always get the same error message and I get incredible lag.

If anyone knows whether this a hardware compatibility issue with my computer and Fedora 26 Workstation or a known workaround please help me.

Sounds like another nvidia problem. When you faced with grub kernel version, press control+x (or whatever the shorcut displayed on screen to edit the boot entries), then add nomodeset

Your graphic card is also newish, the series that Nouveau does not fully support. I suggest when you managed to boot properly without graphic lag, you install proprietary nVidia driver from RPMfusion/Negativo.

Just for reference: I had a similar issue. As Arya pointed out, this is very much a graphics card issue (your 980ti), so you'll need to get the proprietary drivers that they offer.

Add the repos and install the drivers; you should be good to go.

Hope that helps
