I recently installed Fedora 26 on my Dell xps 9560. Almost everything looks well except that I cant control the screen brightness. The buttons don't work and there is no brightness slider on the top right drop down menu. Under displays the monitor shows as "Unkown Display", xbacklight doesnt work (when I installed it) and when I run

$ sudo find /sys/ -type f -iname '*brightness'

I obtain the following list, none of which are related to the screen brightness

/sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-1/1-

I haven't modified any graphic drivers yet.

EDIT: So far I removed nomodest from grub at /etc/default/grub and got it to work, but I'm unaware of the consequences of doing so and if its the right way to solve the problem.
