I have been doing a lot of this for Watch Guard (Linux based) firewalls. It is a pain in the butt, but you have to plug it in and see. It it doesn't work, you can report it to the Red Hat bugzilla along with any details about the device. (They will tell you what to test for). If you put as root a "tail -f /var/log/message" and copy and paste, it will tell them most of what you need. (I have had the RHEL side do this for me on several USB devices and they do add them, but it took about three years. The Fedora side is far faster.)

I prefer the 4G unlimited. It really isn't unlimited. At some point, it will throttles back to 3G.

The older the device is, the more likely it is to work.
