Good evening everyone, I understand about linux is free virus, but I've a question, when a linux user visti a website with a not authorized js for mining a normal Windows/Mac AV detect and stop the script, with linux there's no way to detect and stop these script automatically, except if you have a cpu temp monitor and you see immediately how raise the temp. So someone can suggest a good solution ? Thank you in advance, have a nice evening and happy new year !!!

Ok, but I compare the same website with a windows av the mining js has been detected and block, if I visit the same page with fedora I see immediately the cpu temp run up from 45 to 54° / both browser FF & Chrome

Just run top in a terminal and see what's gobbling your CPU. Then, exit firefox and see if it goes away.

First off all thanks for the command, I'm pretty new in Fedora/linux and I don't know a lot. I understand what you says but this is not a solution, is like a workaround. Now M$ has in program to stop W7 support in 2022, then everyone should have W10, and W10 as you know spy everything, when go to the toilet too, even if you block all the beacon host. So I want try to found a solution for use the pc as a normal user (for suggest to all my family for example) to use Fedora (I've try many distro debian too like ubuntu but I feel Fedora is the best) and a normal user need to surf on web in easyway

Second I'm working as tech supp for a big AV company and unfortunatly the virus has change, for example the last script of coinhive virus is injected directly in the html body of the page than the browser will run it when load all the page without block it, so need a WebAv for block it. I think I will try a commercial one.

with the default firefox there are many add ons available like avast and WOT that you may wish to try, https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire... you may also want to install clamav antivirus scanner to help keep viruses from being shared to other non linux systems

su

then

dnf install clamav clamav-update -y

then when you want to scan the entire computer

freshclam

then

clamscan -r /

thatl scan the root directory of your computer

My understanding is that clamav is intended mostly to scan email attachments for Windows malware before email gets delivered. I don't know if it's even set up to scan for Linux-specific malware, or if there's enough of it out in the wild to be concerned with.

there are programs that use clamav to scan emails but clamav is a general purpose virus scanner and i have had positive detection of some viruses back in fedora 16 so it does work. also there is a few other security scanning applications such as rkhunter but i l recommend clamav its also used by immunet
