Okay I have done google searches on the Above Subject! I am not a Linux Newbie, but a Fedora Newbie :)

how does one sudo to root ? I have tried some sudo variants but not got what I am looking for:

sudo -s
(asks for password for my user account not my root account)

su (does the same thing)

any help for this Fedora newbie ?

su will not ask you for your user account password, it will be asking for the root password.

Lots of possibilities...

  • su - (which will ask for root password).

using sudo

  • sudo su - or sudo -i --user=root
