Can't reinstall fail2ban properly

asked 2018-02-26 15:46:33 -0500

Hi, After being stuck trying to make a custom fai2ban filter work, I decided to reinstall fail2ban package but after removing it I decided to delete /etc/fail2ban/ dir (to be sure no extra custum conf remains). Then I reinstalled fail2ban whith

dnf install fail2ban

But as a result I lost every previous conf, specifically regarding sshd I there a way to recover the previous configuration ?

Ok I found the solution :

dnf install fail2ban

Tried to install from the *update repository :

========================================================================
Package            Arch       Version            Repository   Size
========================================================================
Reinstalling:
fail2ban           noarch     0.10.1-3.fc27      updates      16 k
========================================================================

And gave this aberant conf dir :

[root@nobody /]# ll /etc/fail2ban/
drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 févr. 27 00:37 action.d
drwxr-xr-x. 2 root root 4096 févr. 26 22:32 jail.d

The solution was to force to use the *fedora repository instead of the *update repo :

[root@nobody /]# dnf --repo="*fedora" install fail2ban

:)

Is that a bug ? It seems to be ??
