save file suggested location always set at /home

In Fedora 27, when I wanted to save a file, the location suggested was the previous location where I had saved that type of file. In Fedora 28, it is always /home, and if I want to save several files in the same folder, I have to click my way to it every time - tedious. Any way around this? Many thanks for your help.

Welcome to ask.fedora. You didn't say what browser you're using, but here's what you'd do in Firefox: Go to Edit->Preferences->General. Scroll down to where it asks you to save files you download and select Always ask where to save files. My guess is that it's currently set to save them in /home by default. Please let us know how this works, and feel free to ask any other questions you have.

Thank you - the option was already set to 'Always ask where to save files' (the window asking where to save does open, except it always opens at /home - in Fedora 27 it opened at the location last accessed, which was handy). (Yes, I use Firefox).

In that case, it may be a Firefox issue. If you haven't already, I suggest that you go to the Firefox Support site and see if they have anything that might help. If not, you can always ask a question and see what comes up. I've had mixed results there, but at worst, they're at least trying to help you.
