How to connect to network with wpa encryption?

After upgrading from Fedora 27 to 28, Network Manager (as well as wicd) won't allow me to connect to my router using wpa encryption. The wireless adapter works fines and can detect networks. It will also connect to my network when I disable encryption. It just doesn't seem to work with wpa encryption. I enter the correct password in Network Manager, but it keeps producing the "authentication required" dialog box.

This was not a problem before. I suspect it has something to do with running sudo dnf upgrade --refresh and updating some package, not sure. Any ideas?

Upgrade again. There was a problem with a recent NetworkManager version, check bugzilla for details.
