hard drive consistently clunking

I'm using a Seagate barracuda pro as a secondary drive which is shared between Windows 10 and Fedora 28. Whenever Fedora mounts the drive it starts making a constant clunking noise when idle. This is never the case when it's being used by the Windows system. I'm not sure what the deal is but is seems like it is either being overworked or constantly parked. As soon as the drive is unmounted the noise stops.

Thanks for all the help. I believe the problem was firmware related. After performing a flash with an .exe provided by Seagate and booting back into Fedora the clunking ceased. And I forgot to mention that when it was clunking it was about 2-3 times per second. I ran a disk diagnostic and the drive appears to be healthy.
