I wanted to dual boot windows and fedora 28. After installing fedora 28 in legacy mode after changing my sata config from raid to achi, fedora was working great. But now i cant boot into windows anymore. Windows partition is still visible in my hard drive but nowhere else. When i change back from legacy mode. There are no visible drives and startup of fedora or any other os is imposible. Also windows boot manager nowhere visible, not in bios or grub. please help

dual boot requires all your OS' use the same firmware type: legacy or (U)EFI but mixing or even changing forth and back doesn't work. Your Windows was installed using EFI mode? Your EFI partition does still exist and was not formatted/deleted by Fedora installer? If yes and yes, go back to EFI bios mode and install F28 again.

Also, I guess changing the SATA mode of the hard drive is not appreciated by Windows.

That is probably the correct answer. Sometimes it is just easier to test linux as a guest os in a virtual machine running on the Windows host.

changing from sata raid to ahci is what killed windows. Windoze does not load drivers, unless needed, so you do not have an ahci driver in place. I bet if you change back to sata raid, windows will work.
