How do I edit the wiki / join?
I want to edit a very outdated wiki page that gives bad advice: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packag... ( ^ if you are reading this and can simply delete that poor page, please do)
When I login, I get "You need to have CLA +1" This is a poor user experience -- nowhere can I find how to attain this mysterious permission. Clicking the "join" link takes me to a page that simply describes roles and doesn't explain where or how to join :(
LOL. That page is 5 years old, which is pretty standard for most of the "secondary" guidelines for package types that don't get a lot of updates. You made it sound like it was from the 1970s or something. Five years isn't nearly as static as Packaging:Fortran (2009), Packaging:Lisp (2011), or Packaging:OpenOffice.orgExtensions (2010), but how often should such things be updated?
More importantly, as mavit noted, that document isn't "advice", it's the rulesthat must be followed for all JavaScript packages in Fedora! The impulse to simply change or even delete something like a Guidelines page on a whim is part of what led to the wiki lockdown. (And it's why those documents probably shouldn't be in the Wiki at all. docs.fedoraproject.org seems like it would make for a much more Officialâ„¢-seeming place to host the Packaging Guidelines, now that we have it as an alternative. I'm guessing that's the plan, eventually.)
