Hi folks,

Googling around I see this issue has existed since 2017 across many distro's and I see no solution in sight! The problem existed on F27 (according to an expired bugzilla) then on my system with F28 and now F29! The issue is a big deal because TWO out every THREE boot attempts fail - making me crawl under my desk for the hard reset switch each time. ...

The boot messages freeze at this point:

fb: switching to amdgpudrmfb from EFI VGA

Because this happens so early in the initramfs stage , nothing is logged by ABRT or dmesg or journalctl logging.

Any suggestions or should I open a bug report?

My system is a B350 chipset with Ryzen 2400G APU

Thanks G0bble

I may have solved it - atleast improved the situation drastically by adding the edid bin files ( I have a dual monitor setup) into initramfs via dracut and also speciyfing kms helper settings in grub cmdline.

4/5 boots are now successful..
