what is the proper way to change the i/o scheduler for Fedora workstation 29

i have attempted the basic echo 'deadline' /sys/block/sda/queue/scheduler command. the result following issuing of this cmd is no sucess:

[localuser@localuser-pc ~]$ cat /sys/block/sda/queue/scheduler noop deadline [cfq]

cfq is still shown on the terminal output.

here is output from the uname -r cmd

[localuser@localuser-pc ~]$ uname -r 4.18.16-300.fc29.x86_64

running the latest release Fedora Workstation 29..

The correct command is

echo deadline > /sys/block/sda/queue/scheduler

Put it into your rc.local, and enable it with

sudo systemctl enable rc-local

to repeat the command after every reboot.
