I can't paste from clipboard (even in terminal) but copying works just fine (can easily enter and select clipboard pastes in Gpaste). I've gnome 3.30.1, Xorg 1.20.3. Oh and shouldn't fedora 29 use wayland by default instead Xorg? (how to find which one I am using and "switch).

I had a problem with clipboard cutting /copy/paste after upgrading to Fedora 28. A CAD program I was using would just freeze after requesting a paste. The problem seemed to be in the KDE Klipper utility. After I removed the package, the clipboard functions are working again. I have copyQ installed as a clipboard now. Not sure if your problem is related, but it might be worth looking at that. This was a problem that showed up in all the gnome desktops.

How do you copy and paste in first place? Middle click? To see what you're running, a possible method is, in a terminal, to write

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

To chose X11 or wayland, at login time after entering username click on the cog wheel and select Gnome or Gnome under X11.
