Journalctl says:

Starting Load/Save Screen Backlight Brightness of leds:smc::kbd_backlight...
fedora upowerd[2116]: up_kbd_backlight_brightness_read: assertion 'fd >= 0' failed

When I press the hotkeys, it shows the icon but there is no progress bar. Only running this command can modify the brightness:

echo 50 > /sys/class/leds/smc*/brightness

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm marking this as solved since doing a dnf upgrade fixed the issue.

Add the above command you wrote in rc.local so it can be executed at every reboot.

You can make a systemd script that will run as a service to turn on keyboard led at boot, another approach will be to set a cron task to do run on reboot, that way it will turn on the leds on boot.

Hi thanks for the answer, is there anyway to make Fedora use the hotkeys?
