When I attempt to run virtulbox on the terminal the error message below pops up, I've updated the Fedora and Virtualbox kernel so theyre up to date and have reisntalled both virtualbox and kernels to no avail.

I than read up a bti more on XDG_RUNTIME_DIR and found it to be a security setting for non essentil user installed programs that can only be accessed by that user.

I also added the line " Defaults env_keep += "XDG_RUNTIME_DIR" in etc/ sudoers in an attempt to divert the warning but to no avail, I am new to Fedora so would appricaite any help i can get.

Thanks!

You will not be able to start VMs until this problem is fixed.

That message is a warning. Your real problem is "Either there is no module available for the current kernel (4.18.16-300.fc29.x86_64) or it failed to load. Please recompile the kernel module and install it by"

   `sudo /sbin/vboxconfig`

I've attempted to do this but it just gives me the same output

Perhaps post on virtual box forums or switch to KVM or boxes, something perhaps linux native and supported by fedora / rhel

Either use KVM which is faster, better and easier, or recompile as requested. BUT, you need also kernel-headers and gcc installed, otherwise it won't work.

If you install Virtualbox from RpmFustion, the kernel driver is compiled automatically.
