After upgrade, Raspberry Pi 3 B+ lost WiFi device

I installed an LDXE Spin of Fedora 29 (Fedora-LXDE-armhfp-29-1.2-sda.raw.xz) on my Raspberry Pi 3 B+.

On initial boot, I created an administrator user, connected to my home WiFi, set the timezone, installed Firefox, and expanded the root partition to fill the SD card. I was pretty delighted to have something other than Raspbian running.

On second boot, I was notified of numerous updates, so I permitted all of them (all downloaded over WiFi).

On third boot, the on-board WiFi was not enabled.

Is there some way to re-enable it? I can't find any.

Some diagnostic information:

Still no answers, but I have narrowed down the potential offending updates, which are now down to 5 possibilities, or some combination of them: the problem is located in the Linux kernel 4.19.8.

  • the Broadcom firmware update (brcm283x-firmware 20181105)
  • the Linux kernel update (3 udpates, really) (kernel, kernel-core, kernel-modules 4.19.8)
  • the Linux firmware update (linux-firmware 20181008)

To be clear, WITHOUT these updates it, everything is working fine.

Fortunately, for people who upgraded to the 4.19.8 kernel, on boot users can choose 4.18.

I have also tried to upgrade the raspberry pi which is the most used device of this era. If you really love this device you can easily use this as your base because there are many best VPN router in the market which will be very helpful for you.
