You need to install rpm fusion packages from https://rpmfusion.org/Configuration Free and No-Free according to your setup like fedora 28 or 29. These are not shipped with Fedora by default like other distros.

then just install vlc using

sudo dnf install vlc

it will install all the required codecs packages for you.

Is a option, but if you install vlc, then you will to install various kde dependencies... The man has "Videos" (totem already installed); doesn't need other player... only, see videos in Firefox or Totem...

Fedora do not install nonfree codecs, so you need to install rpmfusion.org repositories free nonfree and then install all players, that could be installed if you install vlc or mplayer from rpmfusion.

Good Luck

Hi; you only need ffmpeg (it install automatic x264 and others libs)... You can install it from UnitedRPMs ; easy! Hugs to my haters... Your insults are welcome ;)

1) su

2) rpm --import https://raw.githubusercontent.com/UnitedRPMs/unitedrpms/master/URPMS-GPG-PUBLICKEY-Fedora-24

3) dnf -y install https://github.com/UnitedRPMs/unitedrpms/releases/download/11/unitedrpms-$(rpm -E %fedora)-11.fc$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm

4) dnf -y install ffmpeg
