Hello. I did a fresh install of Fedora 29 Workstation. I have an Asus MB with socket 1155 and intel i3. I have intel graphics built-in and I want to install a PNY GT240 graphics card.

The memory has been upgraded to 8 gigabyte from 4 gigabyte. When I installed the card I had an orange back ground, but everything else was fine except the top bar. It was fine when I maximized a window but orange and pixelated when restored. Am I able to update nouveau to fix this? Why is installing Nvidia drivers a complex task?

Thanks.

Nouveau is the open source driver in the kernel. Nvidia is the closed source driver. Which do you want ? Perhaps see https://rpmfusion.org/Howto/NVIDIA

I already had the rpm fusion repo installed. All I had to do was the dnf install of the driver and cuda. Also did a dnf update -y

The last update must have fixed the nouveau problem. My screen is darker than it was. Maybe an adjustment is all it needs.

Thanks again, I received a recent update and now my card is working better. I cannot do dual screen. I do see some pixels popping up on the screen like salt and pepper. I am going to install the non-free driver now.
