Boxes: no screen resize on win10 guest with SPICE

asked 2019-02-08 09:12:25 -0600

Fedora 29 with Kernel 4.20.6-200.fc29.x86_64

I am trying to run Windows 10 inside Boxes.

My expectations are

  • automatic resizing of the guest desktop when resizing the Boxes window - but it doesn't. Windows installs a "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter". Manual install ("select different driver") of "Red Hat QXL Controller" changes nothing.

  • a somewhat better graphic performance without lagging mouse cursor and smoother scrolling

I installed the SPICE Guest Tools for Windows from (https://www.spice-space.org/download....) and I can only confirm that Copy and Paste is working just fine. Of course I reinstalled the tools again.

What to do to solve this? Do you need log files or any information?

It seems that there is nothing in my power that I can do. Uninstalling and reinstalling the SPICE guest tools another 20 times will not solve this.
