Hello all!

I have an Fujitsu Siemens laptop, Amilo-series. Because fedora will freeze when i don't use keys or the mouse, i need to add the parameter 'clocksource=jiffies' to grub to boot the kernel. So, my problem is, that if fedora updates the kernel, it could be, that the parameter-setting could be lost, if the parameter is placed in the wrong file. Where is the correct file/place to add this parameter? My goal is to set this once and not to remember, everytime i update the kernel, to configure something in grub.

1.- Edit the file /etc/default/grub

sudo nano /etc/default/grub

and in this command GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX, at the end of the line add this:

This is the result:

GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="$(sed 's, release .*$,,g' /etc/system-release)"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=" vconsole.keymap=es $([ -x /usr/sbin/rhcrashkernel-param ] && /usr/sbin/rhcrashkernel-param || :) rd.luks=0 rhgb quiet clocksource=jiffies"

and then generate the GRUB menu again:

sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

Put that setting in /etc/default/grub, at the end of the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX line. I have several custom settings on that line, and they do not have to be re-applied when the system updates the kernel.

After manually changing /etc/default/grub, run this command to implement the changes:

sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
