AskUbuntu runs on Stackexchange, a proprietary software. AskFedora runs Askbot, a Free and Open Source Software.

It's that simple.

The original question ought to be why AskUbuntu is on a proprietary software package, not a free one like this place. ;)

the problem here is that stackexchange is a community and a single-point start place on searching on a man expirience wich is good for HRs. It's a good thing for fedora that we can use free software, but it's not good for community. think on it.

@aim I personnaly have never searched directly at stackexchange, used Google results instead… We don't need to think about using a proprietary software. We do Free software with Free software. We don't want to use closed soft.

Please remember that user contributions at stackexchange are licensed under cc by-sa 3.0. Not using such a popular and mature platform as stackexchange is a VERY BIG DISSERVICE to the community.

@dnozay: it's the content that licensed under that CC licence. The site itself is copyright stack exchange inc. (which was the original question here).

There is a unix and linux community on stackexchange: http://unix.stackexchange.com/ .

You can view the questions related to Fedora: http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/fedora .

Whichever community you choose to use is your choice. My personal opinion is when it comes to getting answers and fixes to my problems, I use all resources readily available.

I think nothing forbids Stackexchange to have a Fedora Q&A. In fact it was proposed in the past and failed http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/67392/fedora , probably because a lack of critical mass.

On a personal note: Ask.Fedora (or Askbot) in my opinion gives a poorer overall experience than Stackexchange. BTW, I don't like the fonts and color choice for Ask.Fedora. But on the bright side, well, 1) at least we have Ask.Fedora, 2) it is free software (which gives Karma) and 3) Askbot seems to be getting better :)

AskBot already has some features that everyone else is missing! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q%26A_s...
