I'm currently using a Dell Inspiron 6000. I've been trying to update the software (Fedora 18) to a newer version (Fedora 20.) The methods I have currently tried are: fedup, fedora-update, and liveUSB. Fedup gives me the following error when updating Downloading failed: could not verify GPG signature: No public key and I could not find anything relating to this error for fedora, only for ubuntu. Fedora update gives me the option to update yum in the process but the yum update fails with package yum-3.4.3-54.fc18.noarch is already installed the same error also occurs when running sudo yum update yum. LiveUSB downloads and load correctly onto a USB but gives me errors when booting up which I cannot copy to the clipboard while there is no OS. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i %99 sure that you can't upgrade from 18 to 20 , the upgrades are from version to version 18 to 19 , 19 to 20 .

so you need downloads fedora 20 and later install ;)

good luck !

Try using the "--verbose" option to fedup. This should provide some additional information about what exactly is failing.

According to the Common issues page for F20, all you need to do is upgrade fedora-release so the F20 GPG keys are available. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Common_F20_bugs#fedup-18-gpg

first of all, make sure you fedup is updated properly:

yum --enablerepo=updates-testing install fedup

then make sure you have a network connection and upgrade fedora using:

sudo fedup --network 19

and pls pay attention to version number if you try to do this.

Had a similar issue... In order to make sure you get the 0.8+ version of fedup on Fedora 18, had to use:

yum --enablerepo=updates-testing install fedup

Then, I ran into that GPG error. Per [1], just run fedup with this additional flag:

sudo fedup --network 20 --nogpgcheck

update your fedup to latest 0.80 version and you are good to go with

sudo fedup --network 20 --nogpgcheck

Worked for me in two computers, laptop and tower pc

Wait for 18-24 hours Fedora 20 is releasing officially on 17 december.

when it will be Available on Ftp then try to update through Terminal.

In Official fedora 20 iso :) you will get an upgrade option, for updating.

just yum update fedora-release, then you can fedup-cli. it because there is no key of fedora 20

ronak's answer worked for me. I am sure you can update from two versions back, I have done it many times. I just updated from Fedora 17 to Fedora 19, and now I am going to Fedora 20 (with ronak's help).
