Hello. I'd like to know why yum info does not recognize the vim editor. When I type yum info vim I get Error: No matching Packages to list, even though when I type man vim I get the full manual. I also tried getting info about emacs and there was no problem.

Because there is no package named vim. Do

yum search vim

Or even better

rpm -qa | grep vim

To see what kind of vim packages you have installed. Then you can do

yum info <packagename>
edit flag offensive delete link more

Comments

yum is a package manager, not application manager. Gnome-software in Fedora 20 is an application manager.
