Command line - the most generic solution

yum install firefox libreoffice-writer

If you do not know the name of the software, you can use the search function in yum. For example,

yum search office will show different candidates based on the search term.

Another useful tool is yum list *office* if you know part of the name of the program you are looking for. man yum will give you more information.

if you prefer to use a GUI, you can install yumex using yum install yumex. This will install yumex which can be launched either from the menus (I do not know the exact location in MATE, probably in System or Administration) or by typing yumex on the terminal.

Hope this helps.

Soooo, there's no repository like you would see in Mint or Ubuntu? I think they call them software centers where you can find then download the software you're looking for. I thought that Fedora had a link to "add/remove software" on the applications menu but it dosen't appear on mate.

Please, take a look at the Package Management part of Fedora Documentation.
