Hi, I think I screwed myself off:

I ran sudo usermod -G vboxusers [myuser]. I thought I would just add myuser to the group vboxusers with this command but it seems as if kicked myself out of group wheel.

The password I thought I had selected for root doesn't work. Am I done, or is there any chance to recover?

Florian

Any chance to boot a Fedora from USB, then mount my slash-root partition and do something (what?) with it? Ideally adding myuser to wheel...

Please don't use hashes in the tags, i have removed it. I guess @mether is working on fixing the system of tags

OK. That worked. If you are looking for instructions for F19 or newer follow this guide: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_reset_a_root_password#Using_any_of_the_Fedora_Live_Media
