I was trying to install this perl-X10-0.03-1.noarch.rpm from this page: http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21400

I get this message: Failed to install file. An unspecified transaction error has occurred. More information is available in the detailed report.

There's no indication of where that detailed report might be and I haven't found anything yet googling about it.

I guess you are trying to install zoneminder, just do a yum install zoneminder and the yum will take care of the dependencies that needs to be installed along with zoneminder to make it work!

EDIT Below is my original response which I accidentally filed as an answer but its not really the answer to my question. I did figure out how to see the details much later. I installed Cinnamon, a Linux desktop. Part of Cinnamon was the Yumex package installer, and when I used that instead of the default software install that comes with Fedora, it told me about a missing dependency.
END EDIT

When I install zoneminder using yum, and try to start zoneminder, the service is disabled. Maybe you can tell me why. That's why I turned to the rpms.

COMMAND> systemctl start zoneminder service

Failed to issue method call: Unit service.service failed to load: No such file or directory. Job for zoneminder.service failed. See 'systemctl status zoneminder.service' and 'journalctl -xn' for details.

COMMAND> systemctl status zoneminder.service

zoneminder.service - Video security and surveillance system Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/zoneminder.service; disabled) Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Wed 2014-04-30 16:39:01 EDT; 36s ago Process: 3311 ExecStart=/usr/bin/zmpkg.pl start (code=exited, status=2)

No wonder your attempt to start zoneminder failed. You had a space between the works zoneminder and service, instead of zoneminder.service as you used when you checked the status.

Thanks for the tip I' m trying to install zonminder with yum as you suggested. Does anyone know what this means? $ su -c 'systemctl status zoneminder.service' zoneminder.service - Video security and surveillance system Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/zoneminder.service; enabled) Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Fri 2014-05-02 10:16:12 EDT; 14s ago Process: 29039 ExecStart=/usr/bin/zmpkg.pl start (code=exited, status=255)
