How do you become a forum moderator?

Hi!

As you can see, I've got 2000 karma (exactly that much, right now), but I am still not a "forum moderator". I cannot edit wiki posts (strangely), I can't edit comments, etc. How do I become a moderator? I am confused about my privileges right now.

I can/am:

  • Post Questions, Answers and Comments

  • Upvote

  • Downvote

  • Accept own answer

  • Accept any answer

  • Flag offensive

  • Delete comments posted by others

  • Upload files

  • Insert clickable links

  • Insert link suggestions as plain text

  • Close own questions

  • Reopen own questions

  • Close questions asked by others

  • Retag questions posted by other people

  • Edit community wiki posts

  • Edit posts authored by other people

  • View offensive flags

  • Confused ;)

I am not/cannot:

  • Edit people's comments
  • a Moderator

My three questions:

a) How do I become a moderator?

b) What is the difference between me and a moderator?

c) What privileges do moderators have?

IIRC, moderators are selected/assigned manually, so nobody will become a moderator automatically based on his karma points.

And as it seems, moderators have full power(Edit: on the content), so they should be able to do virtually anything allowed by Askbot interface.

:) You're welcome. I think if you'd like to become a moderator, you should ask one of the moderators about it. Such places certainly need to have new moderators from time to time, so that it'll continue forever!

Administrators have full power. Moderators are only the "forum cleaners" :P . But yes, the answer of yours it's stands correct. Above 2000 karma a user has almost the same abilities as a moderator, but actually he/she is not a Forum Moderator. The differences are little, and they come out on manipulating user's accounts mostly (IIRC).

@NikTh Thanks for the clarification. Actually I meant that moderators have full power on the content as far is Askbot allows (I'll edit the answer). I thought that the administrator(s) have access to Askbot setup (e.g. database settings).

I get it now. Thanks @NikTh and @hedayat, it makes way more sense. Before this, someone told me that you need 2000 karma to become a moderator, and then I looked at @Cobra's account. It still says "Registered User". :)
