Edit 3: And now my fonts are somehow installed.

Edit 2: Rebooted, no dice.

Edit: they appear in the font viewer but dont appear in firefox? Ill try rebooting and come back.

I tried to install microsoft fonts, and i ran some command that downloaded an rpm and instlled it (dont remember name), ran xlsfonts | grep ^-microsoft and saw a bunch of fonts like it was supposed to. I didnt however see the fonts so i ctrl+alt+backspace and restarted x. Now when i ran xlsfonts | grep ^-microsoft i could not see any fonts whatsoever. I then installed the webcorefonts and webcorefontsvista packages and when i ran xlsfonts | grep ^-microsoft nothing happent (no fonts). Tried to restart x, no dice. Im really frustrated now. What do i do?

Microsoft fonts are usually installed in /usr/share/fonts/msttcore. It would be helpful if you could link us to the package you installed to install Microsoft fonts. It is quite possible that the package didn't update fc-cache.

Rebuild font cache

sudo fc-cache -vrf

How to install Microsoft Fonts

If the fonts are still not available for you. Remove the package that you installed and reinstall Microsoft Fonts as follows.

  • Download msttcore-fonts-installer-2.6-1.noarch.rpm from here.

  • yum instal msttcore-fonts-installer-2.6-1.noarch.rpm

sudo fc-cashe -vrf didnt solve it, the other command outputted the following:

Loaded plugins: langpacks
Examining msttcore-fonts-installer-2.6-1.noarch.rpm: msttcore-fonts-installer-2.6-1.noarch
msttcore-fonts-installer-2.6-1.noarch.rpm: does not update installed package.
Error: Nothing to do
