What are Fedora equivalents of qemu-kvm libvirt-bin ubuntu-vm-builder bridge-utils?

asked 2015-05-21 11:01:04 -0500

Intel has an [official guide][1] on how to install Intel HAXM for Android x86 emulator for Ubuntu. They recommend installation of following packages.

sudo apt-get install qemu-kvm libvirt-bin ubuntu-vm-builder bridge-utils

and adding user to kvm and libvirtd groups (which might not be needed on Fedora).

qemu-kvm and bridge-utils are available as it is in Fedora. What are equivalent package for libvirt-bin ubuntu-vm-builder in order to get basic support for kvm which is required for Android x86 emulator hardware acceleration on Linux?

For Ubuntu-vm-builder you can use virt-manager.

For libvirt-bin think libvirt will do on Fedora.

so it will be like:

sudo yum install qemu-kvm libvirt virt-manager bridge-utils

Good luck

Reading up more on ubuntu-vm-builder, it seems to be a deprecated tool to create VMs. I don't need a graphical tool to create VMs. I will just install qemu-kvm libvirt bridge-utils for basic kvm support.

backticks gives you inline code highlight and 4 spaces creates a code block. So that you know. It's easy and provides better readability. Thanks.

There is a package group that probably provides everything you need, use dnf install @virtualization

I use that. Tomorrow I am going to clean install F22 Plasma and am going lean this time. Installing only the absolutely important stuff on the dev machine.
