I typically update my Fedora 21 box using the following command:

su -c 'yum -y update'

After updating and rebooting, my wifi connection is no longer accessible. I have no choice but to connect via a wired connection and install the correct wifi drivers (based on kernel version):

uname -r
su -c 'yum -y install kmod-wl-<3.19......>'

Is there any way to anticipate this and avoid the wired connection altogether?

Why isn't this step necessary on my other f21 box? Are the wifi drivers somehow included with the kernel update?

What you need to do is install akmod so it will install it after the next reboot
