How to remove day and time from top bar?

I need to remove the day and the time from the top bar and no amount of searching and posts seems to tell me how I can do that in either Fedora 21 or Fedora 22. So, is there a way to remove the day and time from the top bar?

Thanks, John

By default only clock should be shown up there, not date. Anyway, there is no way to remove clock from top panel in gnome shell, at least not "official way".

Some forum posts suggest writing your own shell extension but on the other hand others don't recommend it since it doesn't work very well.

If you don't solution for your problem here I would suggest asking in their IRC channels or ask on their mailing lists. Here's the list.
