mouse selection within tmux pane

asked 2015-07-19 21:10:48 -0500

I use tmux habitually, and often would like to highlight text in one pane to paste in another. However, when using the mouse to select text, it highlights across the entire width of the terminal window. Is there a way to limit the selection to a given pane?

Note that the tmux options mouse-resize-pane, mouse-select-pane, and mouse-select-window do just what they say :)

Also, set _mouse-utf8 on_. I had a problem with _mode-mouse on_ the last time I had a well-configured tmux. I switched it to _copy-mode_.

You could try to zoom for less obstructed selection: prefix z.

I wasn't a big fan of mouse mode, but zoom seems like it will do the job, thanks! (for those of you reading along at home, that's ctl+b, z to zoom in to a pane, and again to return to the grid)
