Hello,

I am currently doing a training exercise that instructs me to view the output in:

/var/log/messages

after connecting a USB drive. However, when running:

tail -f /var/log/messages

I get:

tail: cannot open ‘/var/log/messages’ for reading: No such file or directory tail: no files remaining

Is this file located elsewhere on F22 Workstation? Thanks for the help

You need to be root in order to read /var/log/messages. Try sudo tail -30 /var/log/messages, after you plug in the USB.
