Can you clarify exactly what you mean by "own software"? Something you've written? Something you've downloaded? Something you're looking for?

You can install using

  1. yum

    http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Yum

    http://yum.baseurl.org/wiki/YumCommands

  2. Rpm

    http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/FedoraDraftDocumentation/0.1/html/RPM_Guide/index.html

  3. From Source

    extract the tarball in Directory

    open Directory

    ./configure

    make && make install

yum is the installer for the console.

you can install software via

yum install packagename

your own software needs to be the appropriate package for your distribution.

try this:

yum localinstall packagename

yum you only can run as root.
