This is with Fedora 23 on a Dell Latitude E4300 Laptop. From lspci:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)

More often than not, I get distorted windows. Find an example here. This happens for all applications as far as I can tell.

I have seen this on a desktop machine of mine as well, under Fedora 21.

Ideas appreciated.

The alternate method in that article seems to have done the trick, both on my laptop and my desktop machine (switching sna to uxa in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/??-intel.conf file). And so easy as well! Thanks much. The image looks like this now.
