what is ming mingw

What is ming, mingw, ming32 or i686-w64-mingw32 directory? I found this in directory struc~ IE: "i686-w64-mingw32" looks to mini but readlly unsure... I' using Fedora 23 with LXDE spin and loving it ever day, inside it look's like what I want work with but found nothing ineither man or info files to help. I can not get to FAQ's or find fedora FAQ's either so that I can check in there either. Please help I'd like read all about. Aall I need is pointing to files but anything will do. Thanks!
