Error message in terminal on Fedora 23 while "dnf update"

asked 2016-03-03 12:00:09 -0600

When I enter commands in the terminal I often get an error message that says : /var/cache/dnf/epel-2b6dfc5904c26562/repodata/e1c71256a31bd50ffc6a4e46068b1694fae4c6b714bdee69aba311c0bcb5c69c-updateinfo.xml.bz2.

I followed the directions of another user on a similar question and entered "dnf clean all", now the commands start working but then I still get that error message. I can't do anything in the terminal and I'm new to Linux so I can't solve this on my own.

Thank you for your help.

Looks like you have installed epel repositories, the epel repositories are not for use on Fedora they are to be used on Centos.

First lets check if you have installed epel repos

sudo dnf repolis

if epel repos show on your repo list then you need to remove the epel repo or disabled it to disable please edit the file on /etc/yum.repos.d/epel.repo and set the enabled=0 if do not have the enabled line add it.

to remove the file, be careful

sudo rm /etc/yum.repos.d/epel.repo
