Android Studio installation on Fedora not ever went fine. At any install, I got different issues.

To save me time, I wrote some steps to perform a right installation on Fedora system. If you need, you can find it on my GitHub at Android-Studio-Fedora.

  1. Android studio is a GUI application, right? You should never start GUI applications with sudo or as root, this is very dangerous to your system because it is easy to get elevated privileges with that. And you could accidentally override your personal data with data owned by root in your home directory.

  2. Your version of android studio is broken and using technology that was removed from Java 8: the "MaxPermSize" switch. Try updating android studio. If that still doesn't help, file a bug at android SDK. You could try finding a file with ending ".ini" and open it with an editor. It should contain a line "MaxPermSize=350m", you can safely remove this line.

  3. The error message is because your installation is broken. Can you try reinstall android SDK?
