File system read-only blocks dnf

Greeting, I'm really stuck on this problem. When I try to install a program with dnf I get:

Config error: Read-only file system: u'/var/log/dnf.log

I get a similar error when trying to format a blank dvd with nautilus:

Error wiping device: Command-line `wipefs -a "/dev/sr0"' exited with non-zero exit status 1: wipefs: error: /dev/sr0: probing initialization failed: Read-only file system.

Somehow I did something to break some part of my system. I have not changed my file system or partitions recently. I have been having issues with the system freezing unexpectedly, but I think that's a different problem.

I will post log files if you could tell me which ones are helpful.

Thanks

Gerard

Welcome to ask.fedora. I don't have an answer for you, but I do have some questions to ask. First, are you using dnf as root, because /var/log/dnf.log can only be written to by root? Second are you sure that the first error message is correct, as the path should be /var/log/dnf.log without those extra characters at the beginning? Please use a comment to reply because you're only allowed to give one answer to any question, and you really shouldn't waste it on something like this.

That's python output. The u' indicates that it's a Unicode string.

What is the output of mount?
