preupgrade with Fedora-Vista dual boot?

I am getting ready to upgrade Fedora 16 to Fedora 17, and I've heard preupgrade is easy to use, so I want to use that. I just have a question: Is it 'safe' to use preupgrade when I have a dual-boot system with Fedora 16 and Windows Vista? I know it would be a good idea to back up both installs, it would just be much easier if I didn't have to re-install Windows.

It is always a good idea to back up before a major upgrade. But in this case, backup of the Windows partition is unnecessary since preupgrade touches only the linux partition. However I believe there are a few known bugs that can interfere with grub. You should peruse this wiki page before you proceed.
