I'm following the instructions here https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Buildi... to build the kernel. I'm compiling on Fedora 24 with kernel 4.7.2-201.fc24.i686. I did the following:

fedpkg clone -a kernel

cd kernel/

git checkout f23

make release

fedpkg local

The build eventually fails with the following error message:

extracting debug info from /home/student/rpmbuild/BUILDROOT/kernel-4.7.3-101.loc al.fc23.i386/usr/bin/perf /usr/lib/rpm/debugedit: -b arg has to be either the same length as -d arg, or mo re than 1 char longer error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.jQwFH6 (%install)

RPM build errors: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.jQwFH6 (%install) Could not execute local: Non zero exit

Where am I going wrong? Thanks.

you may try

mock -r fedora-24-x86_64 --rebuild ./kernel-3.15.8-200.fc20.src.rpm --target=x86_64 --define="buildid .sb" --with baseonly --without debuginfo --no-clean

what I mean you should try add some options like --with baseonly --without debuginfo
