Hi, I tested wifi for Fedora 24 workstation life system and it failed. I was able to select the right network and typed in the right password but after pressing the connection button nothing happens. No connection, no error message, nothing. Wifi is working fine with Fedora 22 on the same machine (Lenovo Yoga 2). Any ideas?

please on the terminal do lspic | grep Wire so we can get the model and manufacture and therefore point you in the right direction.

That is a Realtek some models of realtek have private kernel modules that cannot be include on Fedora as Open Source project, if you install on that computer you need to add rpmfusion.org nonfree repos so you can use nonfree kernel modules or compile the kernel module your self.

On my current fedora 22 system I only used a workaround to fix wifi problems related to powersave: link text

The required module rtl8723be is part of the mainline linux kernel.

Well, thanks but actually I expected that the easy solution I found for fedora 22 (see above) would also work for the following versions!

Apparently the kernel modules you need are not free, and thus cannot be included in Fedora.

I would enable rpmfusion-nonfree repository and install akmod-wl, dkms and kernel-devel.

Or you compile your kernel module from here: https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new

Also quite useful: http://www.linuxlinx.com/2016/05/inst...

Then why is it working for F22 out of the box?
