Hey :) I just installed Fedora-17 (64 bit) with Gnome 3.

I remember (from my previous encounters with Linux) that Ctrl-Alt-T used to launch the terminal. I went to the Keyboard-shortcuts menu and saw that there is no shortcut for the Terminal program.

What do I need to write in the "Command" field of the new command form to launch the terminal?

In the Command field you write the command you want to run, associated to the shortcut you will provide later. For example, one of my custom shortcuts is:

Name: Terminal

Command: gnome-terminal --profile=Default --geometry=95x35+250+60

Then click Apply, and in the second column you will see the field Disabled, where you need to type the key combination for the shortcut.

whats --geometry=95x35+250+60 mean?

--gerometry is a flag to tell the gnome-terminal how big to make the window when its launched. here is an excerpt from "gnome-terminal --help-all":

--geometry=GEOMETRY Set the window size; for example: 80x24, or 80x24+200+200 (COLSxROWS+X+Y)

It is really easy to create a custom shortcut. Go to:

Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Custom Shortcuts

Click the + button.

Click the Add button.

Now click on the text saying disabled and enter your custom shortcut, i.e. Ctrl-Alt-T.

Hope that helps.
